Premarital Counseling

The time of engagement is not only a time to prepare for the wedding ceremony but also for your marriage.  Although engagement is a busy time, it is also an important time to get to know your partner on a deeper level.

Besides meeting with Rev. Akana to plan your ceremony, you will also have the opportunity to participate in two sessions of pre-marital counseling before your wedding.  These sessions will help you to gain a better understanding of yourselves as husband and wife and prepare you for your upcoming marriage.

Premarital Counseling is not required in order for Rev. Akana to perform your wedding ceremony.  However, it is highly recommended.

Recommendation:

Here is one of the best books on how to have a successful marriage:  John Gottman, Ph.D., Why Marriages Succeed or Fail; And How You Can Make Yours Last (New York: Fireside/Simon and Schuster, 1994)."

Please open the document "Premarital Counseling Forms" and follow the instructions. These forms are due at least 2 weeks before your first premarital counseling session. If you are unable to save or print these forms, you can obtain a hard copy by contacting Rev. Akana
